The majority of the remaining structures date back to the Nabatean kingdom and make up the biggest and southernmost settlement following Petra, the capital. This site, previously known as Hegra, is the largest preserved location of the Nabataeans' civilization south of Jordan's Petra. It boasts well-maintained monumental tombs featuring adorned facades that range from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. Additionally, it is worth noting that the Archaeological Site of Al-Hijr (Madain Saleh) is Saudi Arabia's first World Heritage property. Next, you can experience the beauty of Elephant Rock, a breathtaking natural formation that bears a striking resemblance to an elephant, with its trunk gracefully reaching the ground. This particular wonder of nature has become an iconic landmark in AlUla, and is also referred to as Jabal AlFil, among the numerous geological marvels in the region.Includes
