Description
Your tour begins with full attention from your guide. During the drive, your guide will share insights about the sites and aspects of the tour.
Start at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia, established in 1419 AH, located in King Abdulaziz Historical Center, Riyadh. The museum presents Saudi history, the royal family, kingdom formation, and political context through antiques, manuscripts, and documents, organized chronologically. It features eight main halls: Hall of Man and the Universe, Arab Kingdoms, Pre-Islamic Era, Prophet’s Mission, First Saudi State, Unification of the Kingdom, Hall of Hajj, and Two Holy Mosques.
The museum displays Arabian and Islamic art and architecture, including a Prehistoric Elephant Skeleton, a large meteor from the Empty Quarter desert, rock graffiti from Hejaz dating to the pre-Islamic era, a copy of the Rosetta Stone, and an example of Mada’in Saleh rock-cut tombs.
Next, enjoy the National Museum park with outdoor gardens within King Abdulaziz Historical Park, a spacious family-friendly area. Visit the Hall of King Abdulaziz, featuring a showroom of old cars used by the king.
Then proceed to Murraba Palace, one of the most important palaces built by King Abdulaziz for his family. Constructed in traditional Najdi style using local materials, the palace offers exceptional photo opportunities.
Afterward, visit Dira Souq, a traditional market known for its old copper and brass items, silver daggers, Bedouin jewelry, and traditional dresses. The air is scented with sandalwood upon entry. Dira Souq is suitable for purchasing antique carpets and authentic Saudi heritage items.
Continue to Al Masmak Fortress to explore Saudi Arabia’s historical roots. Exhibitions include maps, photographs, historical artifacts, artworks, and audiovisual displays. A short documentary depicts the fortress’s capture by King Abdulaziz; his spear remains embedded in the wooden gate.
End your tour with a photo stop at Imam Turki Mosque.
