Join us to explore King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (KAPSARC), a groundbreaking example of sustainable design and innovative research facilities, & then continue to the Black Gold Museum, where visitors explore the story of oil through interactive art galleries, and educational technology-driven exhibits. Guided by an expert, this tour will show the unique architectural features of KAPSARC & the amazing story of oil. 1) KAPSARC Visitor Center: Honeycomb Architecture & Sustainable Design
Upon arrival, you’ll be guided through the campus’s signature modular hexagonal (“honeycomb”) design, inspired by geometric patterns found in nature. This approach helps the project respond to its setting on the Riyadh Plateau, while supporting both efficient spatial planning and energy performance.
During the visit, your guide will highlight key architectural features, including:
• a shaded central courtyard designed to support comfortable gathering spaces
• modern steel canopies that enhance outdoor experience
• wind-catcher elements that improve natural airflow and comfort
