Description
Begin your tour at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia, established in 1419 as part of the King Abdulaziz Historical Center. The museum presents a comprehensive overview of Saudi history, the royal family, and the kingdom's formation through eight main halls: Hall of Man and the Universe, Arab Kingdoms, Pre-Islamic Era, Prophet’s Mission, First Saudi State, Unification of the Kingdom, Hall of Hajj, and Two Holy Mosques. Key exhibits include the Prehistoric Elephant Skeleton, a meteor from the Empty Quarter, Hejaz region rock graffiti from the pre-Islamic era, a copy of the Rosetta Stone, and Madaian Salah rock-cut tombs.
Next, visit Murraba Palace, an important residence built by King Abdulaziz in traditional Najd style using local materials. The palace offers great opportunities for photography and insight into the royal family's living environment.
Lunch is served at a top Najd traditional restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Saudi dishes in a setting inspired by historic Saudi heritage and lifestyle.
After lunch, explore Riyadh’s Souk Al-Zal, a market with origins dating back to 1901, located near Masmak Fortress. The fortress displays Saudi Arabia’s roots through exhibitions, maps, historical artifacts, and a short documentary about its capture by King Abdulaziz. The spearhead used in the capture is embedded in the fortress’s gate.
Your tour continues to Kingdom Tower (Al Mamlaka Tower), Riyadh’s tallest building located in the Oalya district commercial strip. The tower houses a shopping mall with shops and cafes. An optional ticket grants access to the Sky Bridge observation deck with panoramic city views.
End with a photo stop at Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Mosque, a large mosque featuring architectural styles common in Middle Eastern countries.
