Description
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel before you board a comfortable coach at Winter Park Visitor Center. Relax in air-conditioned comfort as you travel to Hegra.
Upon arrival, meet your guide and explore well-preserved remains from late antiquity, including rock-cut tombs. Your coach provides climate-controlled transport between sites to keep you cool during the visit.
Visit Jabal AlAhmar, a necropolis with 18 tombs carved into reddish-brown rock. Continue to Hegra's largest tomb, the Tomb of Lihyan son of Kuza, which stands 72 feet tall. Stop at the Jabal AlBanat necropolis and see Jabal Ithlib, a large chamber carved into waved rock.
There is an opportunity to purchase souvenirs at a handcraft pavilion before returning to Winter Park Visitor Center. From there, your driver transfers you to AlUla Old Town.
Wander through the maze of historic alleys filled with hundreds of mud-brick houses arranged like a fortress. AlUla Old Town dates back almost a millennium and was an important settlement on ancient incense trade routes and the pilgrimage path from Damascus to Makkah. The area features a 45-metre-high fort that served as a defensive lookout around the 10th century.
After exploring Old Town, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
