Shakour AbuGhazalah started this business in the city of Jeddah, after spotting a gap in the market for affordable fast food. During that time, the restaurant became particularly renowned for its deep fried chicken dishes. Following the death of AbuGhazalah in the late 70s, the business was passed down to his two sons, who have been expanding the business ever since.
