Description

Spend a weekend learning the art of rammed earth construction in the heart of the desert. This 2-day hands-on workshop is designed for a small group to ensure quality learning and a grounded, unforgettable experience. Get direct experience with preparing the earth, setting formwork, and building walls using traditional techniques adapted for modern natural design. Learn about soil mix, compaction, formwork, and finishes, with all materials and tools provided. Stay overnight in a precision-cut icosahedron wooden dome and enjoy authentic desert cuisine, including camel meat dishes. Take a sunrise hike to nearby mountains and walk in the sand dunes. Gather around a campfire under the desert stars. The workshop takes place near Hai’l, Saudi Arabia, and is easily accessible by car, airplane (Hai’l Regional Airport), or train (Hai’l Train Station). Pickup from the airport and train station is available for participants arriving by air or rail.
